by Lee Koo (ADMIN) CNET staff/forum admin / November 15, 2013 9:56 AM PST Question: My laptop is hot to the touch, should I be worried? I do hope you can assist me and put my mind at rest. I have MacBook running OS X 10. 8. 5, 2. 4GHz Core 2 Duo, 3GB of RAM. After about 15 mins of use, my laptop gets hot around the area where the the power source plugs in. I recently took it to a technician who says he cleaned the area of dust and all was fine. Mmmmm! Well it still runs hot after being turned on for a while. Should I be concerned? Is this normal for MacBooks or other laptop brands? If this is not the norm, what can be done about it? Because the last thing I want is a fire literally in my hands.

The anniversary of Hurricane Sandy reminds us that businesses can fall victim to the forces of nature. Whether it’s a blaze that burns through your office, or a flash flood that sends water coursing through your server room, disasters can hit at any time, and the most likely casualty is your data. According the U. S. Small Business Administration, 25 percent of businesses never reopen after being hit by a disaster. But you can beat the odds by designing a backup plan that protects against worst-case scenarios. On the data storage front, having a single backup is not sufficient when the survival of your business hangs in the balance, so consider implementing at least two backup strategies.
With a little imagination and the skills you have, ordinary details like buttons and buttonholes can become design features. by Jennie Archer Atwood Vintage buttons Pairing vintage buttons with vintage textiles is a natural combination. And whether you are using old or new fabric, adding vintage buttons to something you have purchased or made gives it a personal touch. Consider how the button affects the design, but choose what you like, and don't worry if the era or style of the button is different from that of your fabric. If you do not have the exact size and number of buttons the pattern calls for, adjust for size, eliminate a buttonhole, and reposition the others.
